For those truly adventurous and with a little extra time, we'd strongly recommend checking out the Black Hills on the other side of the state. There you'll find Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Monument, Custer State Park Wildlife Loop, great hiking (we suggest hiking to Harney Peak, the highest point in the US east of the Rockies), cool canyons, old mining cities (ie. Deadwood and Lead), near to the Badlands and just good times. While it’s worth the trip, the only drawback is that the Black Hills are about 5 hours from Sioux Falls, so you'll definitely need to plan a few extra days.
